Happy Thursday Reader! We’re mixing it up a bit in this newsletter—I want to tell you a quick story. A while back, I worked with a client recovering from a pretty major meniscus surgery. She went by Mo. She identified as a runner—like, multiple-marathons kind of runner. All she wanted was to get back to racing competitively. But when we sat down for her initial evaluation, she shared a different, more immediate goal: Her sister’s wedding was coming up in 10 weeks. Mo was the maid of honor, and her one non-negotiable? Walk down the aisle in heels. Not just any heels—tall, bridesmaid-matching heels. Now, if you’ve ever had knee surgery, you know how big of an ask that is. Wearing high heels with a recovering knee is no joke. But we got to work. For 10 weeks, we focused on locking out that knee, building strength and control, and practicing everything—even getting nudged while walking in those heels so she wouldn’t lose her balance. She brought the heels to her sessions, practiced walking, marching—you name it. And she absolutely crushed it at the wedding. Was she ready to run a marathon at 10 weeks? Not even close. But when Mo walked into her session the next Monday, you’d have thought she had a podium finish. That moment lit a fire under her, and she carried that energy through the rest of her rehab—all the way back to competitive running. So what’s the takeaway? If you’re in the middle of your rehab journey and the finish line feels miles away, find your version of the high heels. Find the little wins that mean something to you — the ones that remind you you’re making progress, even if it’s not the goal yet. Stack enough of those wins, and this journey gets a lot more manageable—and way more motivating.. Reader - know a friend that might find this helpful? Happy Wednesday Reader! I hope 2026 is off to a hot start! For this week, I just want to keep it short and simple with a few helpful tips for a common movement we all do: Squats. If you’re dealing with some hip issues during squats or lunges (especially if you’re feeling that pinching or compression in the front), then this one’s for you. The goal should always be to keep you in the gym and moving as best as you can regardless of whether you’re currently rehabbing or just managing a...
Happy Wednesday Reader! What’s up squad! Happy 2026! Ideally, we’re making changes and reflecting as an ongoing process throughout the year, but I really do love this time of year when it feels like the whole world gets a fresh start, like we’re all turning the page together. So if you’re that kind of person too, whether you’re setting New Year’s resolutions or just eyeing some big things you want to change in 2026, whether that’s from a rehab perspective or just chasing some cool ass goals...
Happy Wednesday Reader! If you've ever had an ankle sprain before, you'll want to keep reading. Maybe it was a really bad one. Maybe it was just a little tweak. You laid up for a few days and then went back on your merry way. Maybe you’ve even had multiple ankle sprains over the years and now you’re the person who says, “Yeah, I’ve just got a bad ankle,” or “My ankles are super weak.” Ankle sprains are incredibly common. And I think that’s exactly why they don’t get taken seriously. But I...
